Shared lab challenges
With multiple startups using the same instruments it was imperative for the Incubator to avoid scheduling issues and ensure their companies were able to utilize the variety of equipment available. In addition, startups with their own instruments wanted the ability to share their equipment, leveraging the benefits of co-locating with other science-based companies, and provide a clear way to ensure equipment was available for their own experiments.
It was crucial for the Incubator to adopt a booking system in order to help their companies manage the use of all the shared equipment.
The results
To give the startups efficient access to shared equipment, as well as allow them to share their own instruments, the Incubator implemented the laboratory scheduling software connected to the Clustermarket marketplace.
The system allowed them to schedule time on instruments and share equipment with other startups within the Incubator, improving equipment utilization and costs.
Furthermore, with Clustermarket’s laboratory scheduling software, startups at the Incubator have clear oversight of equipment availability, thereby enabling them to avoid scheduling clashes.
